My outlook for Spring from Channel 7
The end of a wet winter - only 30 wetter winters in Melbourne since 1855 - but what about spring 2016?
The huge rains were produced by a strongly negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD), combined with the end of El Nino and the start of a borderline La Nina. The IOD will remain negative, but weakens, and we remain borderline La Nina.
So, the odds are for average to above average rain this spring.
